The Phlebotomy technician program is 8 weeks, designed to prepare a student to become entry-level Phlebotomist.
Program Objective
This program is designed to prepare the student in technical and procedural aspect of basic phlebotomy and knowledge in simulation experience including: collection of blood specimen, label vials with patient identification, especially when working the hospital floors, prepare blood, urine, and other specimens for testing. Perform basic point of care testing, such as: blood glucose level, student will learn infection control, human anatomy and physiology and circulatory system. This program includes theory and hands-on instruction and will have the skills necessary to apply for a position in the phlebotomy technician field. Students are required to perform hands-on a person by completing 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks

Upon successful completion of this program, with all requirement been met, graduates will receive a diploma and become employable, and will have their names sent to the national (NHA) National Healthcareer Association, upon passing the exam student will become certified Phlebotomy Technician.
Program Description
Upon completion the program student will be able to: describe the role of phlebotomy technician, describe standard precautions, discuss and demonstrate the use of biohazard container, discuss bloodborne pathogens and standard precautions, identify sites for venipuncture, explain chain of infection, demonstrate hand hygiene, selection, preparation and organization of equipment, discuss legal issue in healthcare, discuss the procedure for performing dermal puncture, discuss latex allergy and infection, explain and demonstrate personal protective equipment (PPE), discuss the standards of care, identify and demonstrate gloves removal techniques, discuss bleeding time competency discuss and identify patient's right

Provide appropriate residency documents

Must present a valid state's drivers license or valid state ID
An official high school diploma or GED, General education diploma
Must have a background check
