Medical Assistant Program

The Medical Assistant Program is 10 months in duration, designed to prepare students to become competent entry level medical assistant.


Program Objective:

The medical assistant program is to prepare the students for administrative duties and clinical tasks in a clinical settings and to maintain an effective running medical office.  Students will have skills necessary for entry-level position for an extraordinary role in medical assisting.  Career Opportunities: doctor's office, medical clinics, hospitals and ambulatory health care facilities, EKG technicians, examination room, perform routine laboratory procedures, vital signs, handle financial records correspondence, Topics covered: anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, electronic health records, scheduling appointments, learn aseptic techniques, universal precautions and medication administration.


Upon successful completion of this program, with all requirements being met, the graduates will receive a diploma and become employable, graduates will meet the requirements to sit for the CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant offered by the National Health Career Association (NHA)


Program Description:

Upon completion of this program, graduates will: obtain a clear understanding of the overall healthcare system and health insurance program, develop the necessary basic skills needed to become an employable candidate in the workforce. develop communication and organization method of problem solving, develop office skills, be prepared to administer first aid with medical emergencies that may arise inside and outside the workplace.  Perform hematology, serology, blood chemistry and other standard tests, prepare and perform EKG including basic rhythm interpretation and recognize abnormalities, utilizing venipuncture and skin/finger puncture, Apply OSHA blood-borne pathogen standards, maintain competence in electrocardiography.


Admissions:

Must be 18 years  or older

Provide appropriate residency documents

Complete am admission application, fees ($50) non-refundable 

Must present a valid state driver's license or valid state ID

An official high school diploma or GED, general education diploma

Must have a background check 

Complete Orientation
